When Makai Bradley, of Corvallis, was a youngster, he stumbled upon 4-H because he needed something to do. His parents are both teachers and on conference days, he was stuck at school all day. A friend invited Makai to 4-H, and he got into the Lincoln Needles sewing club.

By all accounts Michelle Dixon is a bright, creative and energetic young person with a promising future. She graduated from Crescent Valley High School in 2010 at the age of 16 and currently enjoys a straight-A grade-point average at Linn-Benton Community College.

If it takes a village to raise a child, it certainly takes a team effort to redirect at-risk youth. With heavy caseloads and many clients, Benton County Juvenile Department counselors are busy creating programming that serves the needs of the kids under their supervision, but someone has to make sure the youth are following through.

Being the parent of a child with special health needs can be rewarding and challenging for the entire family. The CaCoon nurse is able to work with the families and the child to overcome the challenges. The CaCoon program allows a nurse to visit the family in their home and provide a variety of services.

Floodplain Permits

Benton County would like everyone to be aware that a Floodplain Development Permit is required for all development conducted within the Special Flood Hazard Area (also referred to as the 100-year floodplain). This includes flood damage repair and projects that do not require building permits. These permits are free.
