WASHINGTON, D.C.:Congressman Kurt Schrader released the following statement announcing his opposition to the GOP budget as proposed by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan:

"I have consistently opposed efforts to privatize vital programs like Medicare and Social Security," said Schrader. "We have to work together to address our long-term fiscal problems but I will not compromise the livelihoods of Oregon seniors. We need to have a serious conversation about our fiscal situation: including real defense spending reductions, tax reform for working class Americans, and protecting our entitlement programs from the massive cuts that will occur if we do nothing."
