Schrader Appoints Economic Recovery Director for Oregon's 5th District

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-OR) today announced the appointment of Jen Wagner to serve as the Economic Recovery Director for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District. Wagner will monitor local implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) recently passed by Congress.

“As a small-business owner I understand how difficult it can be to identify valuable resources offered by the government. However, with Oregon’s unemployment rate now at 9.9%, it is critical that Oregon get its fair share of federal recovery dollars,” said Schrader.

Wagner will work with state and local agencies to help them apply for grants provided by the economic recovery package and look for creative ways to put that money to work. She will also be the first contact and serve as a clearinghouse for constituents and local leaders seeking guidance and assistance on accessing federal funds.

“I am committed to making sure federal dollars make it into our classrooms to save school days and prevent teacher layoffs. I am committed to making sure infrastructure dollars fund building projects that put Oregonians back to work. And I am committed to making sure food stamps, unemployment insurance and medical insurance extensions make it into the hands of Oregon families struggling to make ends meet. With Jen’s support, our office will aggressively pursue opportunities for Oregonians to benefit from the recovery package and ensure accountability for our tax dollars,” continued Schrader.

Wagner currently serves as a field representative for Congressman Schrader. She has vast legislative experience working in Salem and Washington D.C. and has developed strong relationships with local government and community leaders throughout Oregon’s 5th district. Wagner is a graduate of Oregon State University.
