Schrader Applauds the Navy's Decision to Extend the Public Comment Period on Naval Activities off the Oregon Coast
03/11/09Washington D.C. – Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-OR) released the following statement regarding the Navy’s announcement that it is extending the public comment period to April 11th.
“I want to thank Secretary Winter and the Navy for recognizing the concern felt by coastal residents over the Navy’s planned expansion of military training activities off the Oregon coast. It is imperative that community members up and down our coast have the opportunity to thoroughly review the proposed changes. I believe projects like these require an open, fair communication process between private business, government and citizens. I applaud the Navy for continuing to work with local citizens to make this a transparent process.”
On February 6, 2009 Congressman Schrader joined with Senators Wyden and Merkley and Representatives Blumenauer, DeFazio and Wu to call on the Navy to extend the public comment period to April 11th.
