Schrader Announces $500,000 Grant for Veteran Training
06/17/10Congressman Kurt Schrader announced today that Community Solutions for Clackamas County will be receiving a $500,000 grant from the Department Labor to fund specialized training and employment in the renewable energy sector for Veterans returning to the workforce.
“This grant will help provide our brave men and women with much needed reintegration support,” said Schrader. “Transitioning back into the workplace can be challenging for our soldiers, this program helps to alleviate those challenges by providing vital job training both in and out of the classroom and by providing individual job related counseling services.”
The grant will be used by Community Solutions to provide Veterans with vital support and reintegration services aimed at easing the complex transition of veterans back into the workplace. Areas that will be served by the grant include Clackamas, Multnomah, Marion, and Polk counties in the 5th Congressional District. Eligible veterans will be able to access job related counseling services, receive green energy job training, and will also be able to access skill assessments that will help to identify areas where they can enhance vital job skills.
The $500,000 grant was made available to the state of Oregon through the Department of Labor’s Veterans Workforce Investment Program.
