Congressman Schrader Applauds Announcement that VA Medical Center Will be Opening in West Linn

Soon veterans in the West Linn area will be able to receive quality care at a local Veterans Administration medical center. Beginning April 19, 2010 the clinic will be able to provide care for more than 7,500 local veterans announced Congressman Kurt Schrader.

“This clinic will be able to provide expanded quality care services for our local veterans,” said Schrader. “With our brave men and women returning home we need ensure that they have facilities that can provide them with the care they need close to home. This facility will not only be able to provide common health services but also mental health services to our current veterans and those returning from overseas.”

There are more than 70,000 veterans in the state of Oregon. VA clinics provide common health services including health and wellness visits, critical care, pharmacy, orthopedics and referral services. The move will provide greater access to local area veterans in need of quality care services.

Currently the 5th district is serviced by a VA clinic in Marion County and will open an additional facility in Newport, Oregon in May, 2010.
