Job Summary:

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 600 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.

The Financial Analyst is a senior level position with responsibilities for strategizing, planning, and coordinating with Financial Counseling work teams in an efficient and economic basis in the performance of all accounting and operational functions related to AP. Works with department leadership in determining objectives for the Accounts Payable related functions within the department, which align with the needs of the business units and vendor-to-payment strategies. Participates in/directs process improvement projects. Conducts review meetings with key business stakeholders to discuss potential process improvements and customer solutions initiatives. Provides upper management with analytical data related to AP performance objectives. Should be able to work with little to no supervision and suggest process improvements where needed. Should be able to take on additional duties when asked even if they are not specific to their responsibilities. Must be a team player.

Incumbent performs a broad range of tasks focused on the analysis of financial data, processes, systems, policies, and regulations affecting account payable operations.

  • Incumbent supports services teams in defining, planning and implementing new projects and initiatives to achieve specific business objectives
  • Is responsible for data reconciliation efforts when needed within the team they support
  • Prepares written reports and analysis
  • Manages projects to support operational initiatives, team activities, and ongoing strategic programs
  • Develops and monitors metrics based on data and observation and recommends improvements in processes and procedures to increase performance and efficiency
  • Ensures that enhancements or modifications to systems or processes result in achieving higher levels of efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provides quality customer services to internal or external customers
  • Is tactful, discrete, and professional in obtaining necessary, accurate, and thorough information, often under tight time constraints
  • Exhibits good judgment in organizing work and setting priorities
  • Incumbent exercises leadership and creativity, generates original ideas, initiates special projects, and fosters creativity in others
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience serving as an Accounting Operations Analyst
  • Experience working in accounting and/or accounts payable with heavy concentration in vendor support, analysis and reporting
  • Possess subject matter expertise in PeopleSoft accounting modules
  • Strong command of Excel for tool development and performance metric management
  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or seven to ten years of equivalent work experience
