    • I happened to get a seat on a bus at the Dem. Natl. Convention next to Rep. Fudge. This random meeting turned out to be one the highlights of my experience a. Delegate from Iowa. Rep. Fudge turned out to be one of the most thoughtful, focused, well informed People I had the opportunity to meet in September in Charlotte. The residents of dist. 11 Ohio are lucky to have Rep. Fudge working on your behalf.

  5. A new White House analysis shows the impact of budget cuts and expiring tax cuts on African American families. There are other studies that explain how different segments of our population will be impacted, which I will also share in the coming days.

  6. Have you had a flu shot? An early flu season is under way.
Under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), new health insurance plans in effect after September 23, 2010 must cover flu (influenza) shots without requiring a copayment or co-insurance. This applies when you have the flu shot administered by a network provider. However, plans that were in existence prior to that date may not cover the cos...
    t at 100%.

All Medicare recipients are entitled to a flu shot at no extra cost and with no deductible required. If you are uninsured or cannot afford the cost of this protection, please check with a federally qualified community health center where services are available at reduced or no cost based on one’s income. Children, older adults, and other high risk populations are encouraged to obtain this vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control estimate that 200,000 people are hospitalized annually due to seasonal flu-related complications.

  7. Thank you to all the constituents who stopped by my office, and sent me letters and emails about dealing with the so called fiscal cliff, which is a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts that are set to go into effect at year’s end. You asked that

    1. The Bush tax cuts for the top 2% must expire, as scheduled, on December 31.

    2. There can be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits.

I have heard you and I agree. It is time to extend the Bush tax cuts for 98% of Americans right now.
  8. A new poll out today, shows 60% of Americans – including 63% of independents – favor raising income tax rates on earnings over $250,000 to help get America’s fiscal house in order and avert the looming fiscal cliff. As noted in the Washington Post :

“Sixty percent of all Americans back higher taxes on higher incomes in the new Post-ABC data. Earlier this month, an identical 60 percent of voters ...
in the presidential election said income taxes should be raised on income over $250,000, according to the national exit poll.”

One of my constituents wrote to me supporting the wealthy paying their fair share and said, “Please use your voice to remind House Republicans that ‘we the people spoke on November 6th, 2012’.” Rest assured I hear you and I will.
