  1. Today the House passed the Conference Report for the NDAA which included language from the spirit of my amendment on Triple Negative Breast Cancer which was overwhelmingly passed in the House. Because of my amendment the House was able to hold ground and secure from the Senate the language that encompasses the intent and purpose and goals of the Jackson Lee Amendment.

This language in this bill which passed today and which the President will sign moves us a few steps closer to full inclusion of this language which is vital to sufferers of this loathsome disease.

  5. My heart and prayers go out to the families of the victims, the victims themselves, the students, the faculty, the staff of Sandy Hook Elementary School and the Newton community who have dealt with this shocking incident. I urge all Americans to keep these victims and their families in their thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.

  8. Join Congresswoman Jackson Lee and local leaders today at 10:45am as they announce plans to save KCOH. KCOH Radio is the oldest black radio station in Texas and the southern United States. The radio station, which was established in 1953, has been recognized as a forerunner in black radio for more than 50 years and was the first in its field to include talk show programming, gospel, and a variety of programming to its urban listeners. Please join me at today's press conference. I would love to see you there!

  12. Today on the House Floor, Democrats are urging House Republicans to allow the House to vote on extending tax cuts for middle class families and small businesses. Click “like” if you believe Republicans should do the right thing and protect the middle class while fiscal cliff negotiations continue.

  17. On January 1st, income taxes are scheduled to go up for 8.7 million middle-class Texas families. If Congress fails to act, every American family’s taxes will automatically increase -including the 98 percent of Texas families who make less than $250,000 a year and the 97 percent of American small businesses that earn less than $250,000 a year. I will not stop fighting until we reach a deal for the middle-class.
  18. The United States, the State of Texas and Congress have lost a true hero in Congressman Jack Brooks. My heart and prayers are with his family, current and former Colleagues here in Congress and the constituents he used to represent upon hearing of his passing last night. Congressman Brooks was a true patriot and devoted his time here on earth to public service. His presence with us will be deeply missed, but I know that his legacy will live on for years and decades to come. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
  19. I signed a discharge petition to force Speaker Boehner to allow a House vote. Middle class families don’t deserve a $2,200 tax hike this holiday season.

  20. The clock is ticking, and that’s why today I signed a discharge petition that will force Speaker Boehner to immediately schedule a vote on the Senate-passed middle class tax cuts.
