Committee on Education and the Workforce

In  March, 2012, I was pleased to rejoin the Education and the Workforce Committee.  Early childhood programs provide an important foundation for our children, which is why I plan to work with my colleagues to strengthen and support programs to ensure that when our children arrive to school, they are ready to learn.  Although there will be obstacles, I stand by my goal of making sure that every child has access to a quality education.   This includes my commitment to work toward improving school lunch and breakfast programs which play a critical role in keeping children healthy and ready to learn. 

Promoting sound education policies that impact our children from cradle to career  is essential.   I also believe we must ensure that working Americans have the opportunity and training to succeed in an increasingly competitive global marketplace while ensuring their rights to collectively bargain and perform their work duties in a safe environment.  This committee assignment places me in a unique position to vigorously support and promote improving the education system and protecting the workforce.
