April 24, 2009 - Rep. Dicks met with the Washington State Champions of the We the People Competition from Gig Harbor High School during their trip to Washington DC.
April 15, 2009 - Rep. Dicks attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Center for Urban Waters in Tacoma. The groundbreaking was a water ceremony which symbolized the cleanup of the Puget Sound.

September 2, 2008: Norm in Sequim to present a grant that will help renovate the new home of Olympic Theatre Arts and will serve as a gathering place for community meetings, educational and cultural activities, and more.
August 18, 2008: Norm at the Tacoma School of the Arts with Bruce Cole, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, to present one of the newest NEH programs, "Picturing America," which is a series of selected works of art that form an interpretive resource for schools and libraries around the nation.
August 7, 2008: Norm meeting with participants in the Safe Streets Campaign of Tacoma.
August 6, 2008: Norm attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Ocean Cold storage facility in Westport.

July 21, 2008: Jennifer Kilmer, Executive Director of the Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society & Museum, giving Norm an update on the Harbor History Museum, which is currently under construction in Gig Harbor.
June 30, 2008: Norm providing the opening remarks for the Hood Canal Science Summit at the Kitsap Conference Center. The summit, sponsored by Norm, presented the results of a three year scientific study of the canal.
June 4, 2008: Norm met with the new Olympic National Park Superintendent Karen Gustin, where she discussed her priorities for management and operations of the park, while Norm outlined his plans for another increase in the overall budget for the National Park Service in the Interior & Environment Appropriations bill, which his subcommittee will draft sometime this month.
May 31, 2008: Norm making remarks during the grand opening celebration for the Bremerton Marina. The new marina features over 300 slips, and more than 2,000 feet of public access to the Puget Sound.
April 25, 2008: At the EarthVision Summit, the Student Conservation Association commended Norm for his actions in the swift approval of emergency cleanup funds for Mount Rainier National Park, and presented him with a ceremonial poster commemorating the restoration effort. Pictured with Norm is SCA President and CEO Dale M. April, 24, 2008: Norm at the awards ceremony for the Centennial Challenge Initiative, where the first round of matching funds was announced. This challenge is a public-private partnership to improve services and facilities in preparation for the 100th anniversary of the park service in 2016.
April 17, 2008: Congressman Norm Dicks making remarks at the news conference regarding the U.S. aerospace defense industry and Air Force air-refueling tanker. The news conference was attended by U.S. Senators Patty Murray, Maria Cantwell, and Pat Roberts; U.S. Congressman Norm Dicks, Jay Inslee, and Todd Tiahrt; and union representatives from SPEEA and IFPTE.
April 10, 2008: Congressman Dicks testifying before the Natural Resources Committee in support of the FLAME Act (H.R. 5541). The FLAME Act would provide a supplemental funding source for catastrophic emergency wildland fire suppression activities on Department of the Interior and National Forest System lands.
April 1, 2008: Congressman Dicks chairing an Interior and Environment Subcommittee hearing on the National Endowment of the Arts. Testifying before the subcommittee is Dana Gioia, Chairman of the NEA. Actor Robert Redford, actress Kerry Washington, and singer John Legend also testified for Arts Advocacy Day.

Feb. 26, 2008: Norm leading an Interior Subcommittee Hearing. Seated across from Norm is EPA Administrator, Stephen L. Johnson. The hearing revolved around the inadequate levels of funding requested by the President for FY 2009 for the Environmental Protection Agency.
