Congressional Award

Congressman John Kline has the honor of awarding several hard-working students in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District with the Congressional Award each year. This voluntary, non-competitive program focuses on recognizing the accomplishments of dedicated young Americans.

To earn the award, students set goals in four areas: volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition/exploration. Students then select an adult advisor who will help set challenging but achievable goals and plan activities to reach those goals.

Earning the award is a fun and interesting way for young people to get more involved in something they already enjoy or would like to try for the first time. This is not an award for past accomplishments. Instead, students are honored for achieving new, challenging goals.

The Congressional Award is open to all individuals between the ages of 14-23.

No minimum grade-point average is required, and accommodations are available for young people with special needs or disabilities who are willing to take the challenge.
