   WASHINGTON, D. C. [October 1, 2008] – Congressman Norm Dicks (D-WA), currently serving his 16th term of office and member of the Appropriations and Homeland Security Committee, was honored last night for his service to country and community at the United States Navy Memorial’s 2008 “Lone Sailor” Awards Dinner. 

    Joining Rep. Dicks were honorees A. G. Lafley, Chairman and CEO of Procter and Gamble and former Navy Supply Corps Officer; Arnold Palmer, sports legend and Coast Guard veteran.  John McConnell, recently deceased founder of Worthington Industries, was also recognized posthumously. The black tie gala was held at The National Building Museum, 401 F. Street, NW, Washington, D.C.

    The United States Navy Memorial Foundation presents a Naval Heritage Award to distinguished Americans who have significantly supported this nation’s Sea Services, and whose lives and careers exemplify the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.  In receiving the Naval Heritage Award, Congressman Dicks joins an impressive list of those who have made a difference to the men and women who have served, are serving and will serve in the sea services through their actions and support of the men and woman in uniform.
