REP. DICKS NAMES AREA STUDENTS TO U.S. MILITARY ACADEMIES
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Norm Dicks today released the list of students from area high schools whom he has nominated to vacancies at United States military academies for the upcoming academic year.
“The military actions that have initiated our war on terrorism in recent months serve as a reminder of the need to continue to educate and develop a new generation of military leaders in the United States,” said Rep. Dicks, who serves as a senior member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee in the House. “The service academies play a pivotal role in replenishing leadership talent in each of the services,” he said.
For the academic year beginning in the fall of 2002, Rep. Dicks is nominating a total of 16 students, representing high schools from across the 6th District, which is home to numerous defense installations and a large population of military veterans.
