REP. NORM DICKS ANNOUNCES ACADEMY APPOINTMENTS FOR 2000
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks has nominated 18 students from the 6th Congressional District to vacancies at United States service academies for the upcoming academic year.
"In addition to receiving a first-class education, Academy cadets from our area have continued on to the leadership ranks of all of the U.S. military services," Rep. Dicks said. "An academy education is a great bargain for the students, and it absolutely essential for developing an educated and thoughtful cadre of military leaders in peacetime as well as during times of conflict." he added.
This year's nominees include high school students from Tacoma, Bremerton, Lakewood, Allyn, Gig Harbor, Belfair, Gardiner, University Place, Sequim, Port Orchard and Aberdeen.
The nominees for the classes entering the academies in the summer of 2000 are as follows (note that some students are nominated for more than one academy, and that hometown of record is listed):
