Rep. Dicks Nominates 19 Students from Area Schools to Military Academies
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nineteen students from high schools in the 6th Congressional District have been nominated by Congressman Norm Dicks to the nation’s military academies for the upcoming year.
“It’s an honor each year to recommend highly-qualified students who are determined to serve our country through the armed forces, and this year’s nominees represent an exceptional group of individuals with top academic credentials and superior motivation,” Rep. Dicks said.
Nominees for the classes entering the academies in the summer of 2010 come from high schools in Bremerton, Port Angeles, Tacoma, Elma, Gig Harbor, Port Orchard, University Place and Port Townsend, he noted.
Rep. Dicks currently serves as the vice-chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee in the House of Representatives. He has been an ardent supporter of all four of the nation’s service academies because of their essential role in educating and developing next generation of military leaders in America.
