IMPORTANT NOTE: As of November 1st, the Office of Congressman Norm Dicks is NO LONGER accepting tour requests. Any such requests should be directed to the offices of Senator Murray or Cantwell.

The White House - Tour reservations should be requested at least three months in advance.  1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.  Self-guided tours of the White House are available Tuesday through Saturday, between 7:30am and 12:30pm. My office cannot guarantee tickets, even with advance notice, as White House reservations are assigned on a strict first-come, first-serve basis. In order to process your request for a tour of the White House you will need to submit some basic security information for each member of your group.

The United States Capitol Building - The new Capitol Visitor Center opened on December 2, 2008, and contains new, interactive exhibits and detailed information regarding the history of the Capitol, and the role Congress plays in our government. All tours of the Capitol Building and visits to the House or Senate Galleries must now enter through the Visitor Center.

House Gallery Passes - My office is able to distribute tickets to the House Gallery, which will permit you to observe the proceedings of the House Floor. In order to obtain these tickets you must stop by my office (2467 Rayburn Building) during your visit. The House Gallery is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. even when the House is not in session. The line to enter the House Gallery is found in the Capitol Visitor Center, located on the east side of the building. Please note, these tickets will only permit entrance to the House Gallery and not the rest of the building.

The Supreme Court - First Street and Maryland Avenue, NE.  Open Monday through Friday except on federal holidays.  Public lectures are conducted in the courtroom every half-hour from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. when the Court is not in session. To see the Court in session, wait in one of the two lines (one to briefly observe the proceedings and the other to sit for an entire argument) outside the building.  The lines start forming around 8:30 a.m. so get there early!  For information, call (202) 479-3000 or visit the Supreme Court's website.  Metro Stop: Capitol South or Union Station.

The Pentagon - Across the 14th Street Bridge in Virginia (I-395).  For information, call (703) 695-1776 or (703) 614-1642 or visit the Pentagon's website.  Metro Stop: Pentagon. 

The Department of State - 2201 C Street, NW.  Currently tours are limited to the Diplomatic Reception Rooms, and are given at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Reservations are required and should be made at least four weeks in advance.  Due to the large volume of requests, reservations can be made up to three months in advance.  Tours may be arranged by contacting the Department of State Tour Office on (202) 647-3241 or by visiting the Department of State's website.  The State Department Tour Office is closed on weekends and holidays.  Metro Stop: Foggy Bottom.

Federal Bureau of Investigation - The FBI Building is currently closed to the public until further notice. Metro Stop: Gallery Place-Chinatown.

The Library of Congress - Located on First Street, SE between Independence Avenue and East Capitol Street. Visitors can view the Main Reading Room with its magnificent domed ceiling from the Visitors’ Gallery.  There are guided tours daily starting in the Visitors’ Center in the Jefferson Building.  For information, call (202) 707-6400 or visit the website at for complete information.  The hours of the Jefferson Building are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.


The Department of the Treasury - This building was built in 1836 and since then has served as the headquarters for the Treasury Department.  Entrance through Appointment Center doors located next to the White House on 15th Street between F and G Streets, NW.  Tours are only available on Saturday morning, and last approximately 90 minutes.  Admission is free.  For tour information or to make an advanced reservation call (202) 622-0896.  For hearing impaired tours call (202) 622-0692.  Metro Stop: Metro Center.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing - 14th and C Streets, SW.  See how US currency is printed.  Provides public tours Monday through Friday continually from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., leaving every 15 minutes.  You should enter at the Visitor Entrance on 14th Street.  Tours last 40 minutes.  Closed weekends, federal holidays, and December 24th through January 3rd.  Reopens January 4th with regular hours.  Group tours not available.  Telephone: (202) 874-2330.

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts – Free tours are open to the general public without a reservation on weekdays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and weekends, 10:00 am to 1:00 p.m. Tours leave approximately every 10 minutes and last between 45 minutes to 1 hour. Groups of 20 or more, visitors with special needs, or special Foreign language needs can be booked online at Group tour confirmations take between 3-5 business days. Tours are unavailable on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and New Years Day. The Kennedy Center is located on the banks of the Potomac River at 2700 F St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20566. The Foggy Bottom/George Washington University Station (on the Orange and Blue lines, at 23rd and I streets, NW) , is the stop closest to the Kennedy Center. From there, it is a short walk via New Hampshire Avenue OR one can use the FREE Kennedy Center Shuttle (signs are towards the left as you exit the escalator on the metro stop). The shuttle departs every 15 minutes from 9:45 a.m.-Midnight Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m.-Midnight Saturdays, and noon-Midnight Sundays and 4:00 p.m.-Midnight on Federal holidays.
