Congressman Higgins Announces Eric Renn's Acceptance to West Point

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) is pleased to announce that Lake Shore Central High School senior Eric Christopher Renn has been accepted to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Renn, a resident of Angola, NY, was nominated by Congressman Higgins for the program.

“Eric has an exceptional academic history and I am confident he will represent Western New York well as a West Point cadet,” said Congressman Higgins.

Eric Renn’s educational, athletic and community accomplishments impressed Congressman Higgins’ Military Academy Advisory Board and earned him the Congressman’s nomination.  A member of the National Honor Society, Eric currently holds a grade point average of more than 4.0 and still finds time to participate in band, yearbook club and technology club.  In addition he has served as captain of his soccer team, co-captain of the baseball team and is a member of the school Ski and Snowboard Club.  Eric is the son on Randy and Lori Renn of Angola

Established in 1802 West Point Academy is premier facility with a mission to “educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the Nation as an officer in the United States Army."

Each year Congressman Higgins names an Academy Advisory Board made up of local veterans and servicemembers to interview all applicants and make recommendations.

Service academy appointments are made by the President of the United States based on congressional and/or military recommendations.  Each service academy ultimately decides which nominees will be accepted into each program.
