Mikulski Statement on the Eleventh Anniversary of September 11th Terrorist Attacks

September 11, 2012

WASHINGTONU.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) made the following statement to mark the eleventh anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:

"Eleven years after the terrible tragedy of September 11, my heart goes out to the 68 Maryland families who lost loved ones that day. They're not alone in their grief and will always bear the impact of that day in their hearts.

"It is a poignant day with powerful memories. Of how we saw smoke coming from the Pentagon. And of how we all felt as we saw the World Trade Center fall. What I remember most is the generosity of spirit -- the bravery, courage and fortitude of first responders and everyday Americans.

"We'll never forget those suddenly and sadly taken from us, the heroic first responders who rushed to service, and the men and women of our military bravely fighting to keep America safe. Today we honor their courage and sacrifice."
