Myrick Votes To Protect Jobs From Government Interference

(Washington, DC)–US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) today voted in favor of HR 2587, The Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act, introduced by Rep. Tim Scott (SC-01).

The bill amends the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) to prohibit the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from ordering an employer to relocate, shut down or transfer employment. This is especially important given the ongoing situation in South Carolina involving the NLRB and The Boeing Company, which may destroy thousands of jobs on which hardworking Americans were depending.

“Businesses need certainty so that they can grow and create jobs,” Rep. Myrick said. “The overreaching actions of the National Labor Relations Board do nothing to foster this certainty and actually give American businesses the incentive to take jobs elsewhere.  The bill passed today continues the work that the House has been doing – giving businesses a chance to recover by getting government out of the way.”

The Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act passed by a vote of 238 - 186. It will be sent to the Senate for further consideration.
