Myrick Votes Against Government Takeover of Health Care

(WASHINGTON, DC) – US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) has released the following statement after voting against HR 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act:

“The Majority’s health care reform isn’t reform at all,” said Rep. Myrick. “Instead of addressing the serious issues with our health care system, their bill simply assumes that the government knows better than the American people when it comes to their health care.    It costs too much, raises taxes in the middle of a recession, and is the last thing that our country needs with unemployment rates higher than they’ve been in decades. Most importantly, the American people have made it clear that they don’t want the government to run our country’s health care system.”

Rep. Myrick supported the Republican alternative health care plan, which would decrease insurance premiums and lower the federal deficit. For more information, visit www.healthcare.gop.gov.

The Affordable Health Care for America Act passed by a vote of 220-215.
