Myrick Statement on White House "Fishy" Information Program

(Washington, DC) – US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) has released the following statement in response to the White House’s decision to discontinue the collection of “fishy” information on health care reform:

“A program like this was never necessary. People have every right to voice their concerns about proposed health care reform without the fear that they will be reported to the White House. With these tactics no longer being used, I hope that the health care debate can continue in a meaningful and productive manner.”

Rep. Myrick sent a letter to President Obama earlier this month asking him two questions: 1) How will the “fishy” information collected via flag@whitehouse.gov be used?; and 2) Will the people who are flagged as “fishy” be made aware that they’ve been reported?

To date, there has been no reply.
