Myrick Responds To Supreme Court Ruling on Arizona Immigration Law SB 1070

(Washington, DC)–US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on Arizona’s immigration law:

“States like Arizona have passed their own immigration laws because the Administration has made it a policy to pick and choose which immigration laws to enforce, or simply not enforce them at all.  If, as the Supreme Court holds, “The Federal Government’s broad, undoubted power over immigration and alien status rests, in part, on its constitutional power to ‘establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization’”, then it’s time for the federal government to step up and get serious about enforcing our nation’s immigration laws. Today’s ruling shows us that the time has come to truly fix our immigration system with reforms that secure our borders, protect the interests of our citizens and cut off the incentives that draw people illegally to the United States.”
