CONGRESSMAN RUBÉN HINOJOSA TO MEET WITH LOCAL VETERANS AND GEAR Up STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2012

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) will be the keynote speaker at the Honoring All Who Served Veterans' event at 9:00 a.m. at the Cano/Gonzalez Elementary School, 1701 S. Raul Longoria in Edinburg. Valley veterans will be in attendance at the Honoring All Who Served ceremony. The event is being held to remember and honor our Military Veterans who have sacrificed so much for us and our country. Students from Cano/Gonzalez Elementary will also participate in the ceremonies to honor our Veterans.

Congressman Hinojosa, also on Monday, will address GEAR Up students and teachers at 11:30 a.m. at the La Villa Early College High School Auditorium at 100 W. HWY 107, in La Villa. Following the assembly, Congressman Hinojosa will tour 8th grade classes and meet with students and teachers to discuss the importance of higher education and future career opportunities.   La Villa Early College High School's new Superintendent, Narciso Garcia, oversees the GEAR Up program which is designed to increase high school graduation rates and college readiness. GEAR Up was formed to encourage and support students from low-income families to graduate from high school and earn college degrees.
