Sobering May Jobs Report

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) issued the following statement about the May 2012 jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor:

This sobering jobs report shows unemployment going up to 8.2 percent in May. It marks 40 straight months with an unemployment rate of eight percent or higher. We now have 5.4 million Americans who have been out of work for more than 6 months. I would hope the reality of these numbers would cause President Obama to rethink his disastrous economic policies. House Republicans have passed more than 27 job-creating bills that are stalled in the Senate. If President Obama wants to grow the economy and create jobs, he can start by supporting our jobs bills.” – Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

The Labor report shows the economy added only 69,000 jobs in May.  Independent analysts say the economy needs to create about 125,000 jobs a month just to keep the unemployment rate steady.
