Rep. McCarthy Announces $183,728 Grant for the Roosevelt Children's Academy

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy announced a $183,728 grant for the Roosevelt Children’s Academy. This grant, administered by the Department of Education, will fund the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Demonstration Program at the Academy.

“The students at the Roosevelt Children’s Academy deserve this money.” said McCarthy. “It is important the Federal government work with local schools to ensure they have the resources necessary to provide for a quality learning experience for all students.”

These funds will be used to ensure all students have access to counselors and social workers by hiring additional counselors and providing a preventative approach involving both students and their parents.

“As Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Healthy Families and Communities, I understand the invaluable guidance and direction school counselors provide for students.” said McCarthy. “I am confident the students at the Roosevelt Children’s Academy will benefit from this innovative program.”
