WASHINGTON, DC— Today Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy congratulates Abigail Sia from Mineola on being selected to serve as a Congressional Page this summer. Sia is a student at Mineola High School.

The Congressional Page Program is a highly selective and prestigious program has been serving the House of Representatives for nearly two hundred years. Working as a team, Pages assist Members with their legislative duties, deliver correspondence and small packages within the congressional complex, answer phones in the Member cloakrooms, and prepare the House Floor for sessions.

Congresswoman McCarthy was proud to sponsor Sia for this program. All Congressional Pages must be sponsored by a Member of Congress. Sia has excelled in both her academic and extracurricular pursuits.  She is currently in the top ten percent of her class and has taken a strong role in many student organizations. In addition Sia is an accomplished violinist and has performed in Pit Orchestra, All-County Orchestra and the Long Island String Festival.

 “I am very proud of Abigail on being selected for this prestigious program and I am sure her parents are as well,” said Congresswoman McCarthy. “I am sure Abigail will excel in the Congressional Page Program and I am confident I will be hearing many great things about her in the future.”
