Way Station Veteran Programs

Way Station receives grant funds from the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide services to veterans throughout the State of Maryland.

Operation New Start Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program

The mission of Way Station's Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, Operation New Start, is to assist homeless veterans in obtaining and retaining employment.

The Program provides the following services:

  • Outreach
  • Assistance in locating support services in the community
  • Training, job development, and employment referrals
  • Coaching, counseling and mentoring through the first 180 days on the job
  • Help with eliminating barriers to employment
  • Help with health and VA issues

Veterans Workforce Investment Program

The mission of Way Station's Veterans Workforce Investment Program is to meet the workforce investment needs of veterans and to perform outreach and public information activities to develop and promote employment and job training opportunities.

The Program provides the following services:

  • Outreach
  • Training job development and employment referrals
  • Assistance in reintegrating eligible veterans into meaningful employment within the labor force
  • Development of effective service delivery systems that will address the complex problems facing eligible veterans.

Welcome Home Program Per Diem Program

The mission of Way Station's 16-bed Per Diem Program, the Welcome Home Program, is to provide a transitional living program to homeless veterans.

The Program offers the following services:

  • Housing support services to homeless veterans wishing to achieve residential stability
  • Recovery-oriented services designed to support sobriety
  • Employment services
  • Independent living skills training and support, such as money management
  • Coordination with veteran affair services
