Saving and Preserving Medicare

Last week, the House of Representatives passed the FY 2012 budget that will put America back on the track of fiscal responsibility.  Opponents of the budget, who prefer the status quo, continue to make inaccurate claims about how this budget will address the faltering Medicare program.  As the attached document from The Heritage Foundation makes clear, Medicare will have to change due to its unsustainability.  The FY 2012 budget ensures that these changes, which must be made to save and preserve Medicare, are changes that will strengthen the program and maintain its viability going forward.  This piece demonstrates how the FY 2012 budget will implement a successful premium support system—an idea with bipartisan roots.
