Delphine Metcalf-Foster appointed by VA Secretary to Advisory Committee on Women Veterans

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. George Miller (D-Martinez) today announced that Delphine Metcalf-Foster of Vallejo has been named as one of six new members appointed to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Advisory Committee on Women Veterans.

Established in 1983, the advisory committee makes recommendations to the Secretary for administrative and legislative changes an expert panel that advises VA on issues and programs affecting women Veterans.

Yesterday I was glad to visit USS-POSCO Industries, in Pittsburg, CA to join USS-POSCO and United Steelworkers Union representatives in calling for a level playing field for American workers and manufacturers, especially with regards to steel and steel products.

There were a number of great questions asked on the call - we talked about the Occupy Wall Street movement, the recent Citizens United court decision, the importance of the Affordable Care Act, the work of the Super Committee and my recent work on behalf of small businesses in the district.

Next week the Federal Interagency Working Group on Environmental Justice will convene in Richmond to address various environmental justice topics, including the complex array of social, economic and environmental challenges that face the city today. Additionally, the Working Group aims to identify partnership opportunities among attendees to advance the goal of a Sustainable and Livable Richmond for All- namely creating good jobs while improving public health.
