LifeLong Medical Care to use award to create local jobs and improve health care outcomes

Washington, D.C. – An award made possible by the Affordable Care Act could help create jobs, lower health care costs and improve the well being of residents in several East Bay communities, Rep. George Miller (D-CA) said today.

 

Good news for American manufacturers today, as the House voted overwhelmingly to pass a bill reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank, whose charter was scheduled to expire at the end of the month. The bill, which was previously delayed because of Republican objections that we should not be helping U.S. companies get the financing they need to sell goods overseas, now moves to the Senate and is likely to pass there and be signed into law by President Obama soon.

Concord High Student Wins Rep. Miller’s Congressional Art Competition Art to hang in U.S. Capitol building

WASHINGTON, DC – A Concord High School student has won the 2012 7th District Congressional Art Contest, Rep. George Miller (D-Martinez) announced. Courtney von Savoye, a freshman, won with her work “Pepper Values” (click to view) and will have her work displayed in Washington, D.C.

Miller to receive Kennedy Award for lifetime achievements on behalf of all people with disabilities

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep George Miller (D-Martinez) will be honored today by Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF) for his many years of work to advance the rights of all people with disabilities. Miller will be honored Tuesday night at the organization’s 33rd anniversary celebration and will participate in a panel discussion on the disability rights movement and the challenges the disability rights movement currently faces.
