"Hi, I'm Robert Hurt, and I am honored to have the opportunity to again serve as the representative for the good people of Virginia's 5th District.
"Over the past two years, we have appreciated your communications with our office, and we look forward to maintaining that dialogue going forward. To stay in touch, please sign up for our e-newsletter at hurt.house.gov and tune in to our monthly video addresses at the end of each month.
"At this pivotal time in our nation's history, the challenges we face of returning to fiscal sustainability, and getting 5th District Virginians and all Americans back to work, are immense. But this past month, as we gathered as a nation to pay tribute to our veterans on Veterans Day, and gathered with family and friends to give thanks on Thanksgiving, we were reminded of the many blessings we enjoy as Americans.
"As I gathered with my family around our Thanksgiving table in Chatham, I was reminded of the sacrifices of those that came to this country over 200 years ago to establish this great nation, and of the sacrifices of those who came after them to preserve it. And I was reminded that -- as with all of the challenges we have faced throughout the generations -- our best days are ahead of us.
"Throughout the month of November, we have listened as those in Washington have laid out two very different visions for the challenges we face as we approach the year's end. On the one side, we have seen a call for an expanded government that taxes more and spends more. And on the other side, we have seen a vision of limited government that relies on our small businesses and family farms to grow our economy, and makes the necessary spending reforms to bring our nation to a fiscally sustainable course.
"And while this debate is far from over, I remain optimistic that we will join together in the effort of preserving this great nation for our children and grandchildren. The issues we now face are not Republican or Democrat issues, they are American issues, and throughout history, Americans have never backed down from a challenge. As your representative, I maintain my commitment to working toward finding bipartisan solutions to the great challenges that we face.
"Once again, thank you for tuning in and I hope you will visit our website and stay connected with our office. Thank you."

If we are to solve this country's problems we are ALL going to have to contribute, even we who are veterans. This country is in a mess and at the rate we're going we'll be Greece in a few years unless something is done NOW.

Hypocritical nonsense. You voted for the Ryan budget which makes drastic cuts in Veterans programs.

Washington Post assigned Three Pinocchios to House Speaker John Boehner's claim that "raising the top rates would destroy nearly 700,000 jobs in our country”, calling his claim "simply absurd".

Very nicely said, Robert. Good job. It all comes back to the size of government and the loss of liberty. We're behind you 100%.
I would like to suggest that future videos not have a bright window behind you. I wrecks the lighting. Also the sound had too much echo. A microphone is needed for a closer pickup without echo.
