Hartzler issues statement on U.S. Supreme Court ruling in property rights case

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) has issued the following statement applauding the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in a property rights case in Idaho:

“As a staunch supporter of private property rights I applaud today’s unanimous U.S. Supreme Court ruling in favor of individual property rights. The Environmental Protection Agency had prevented an Idaho couple from building a home on their own land because that area contains wetlands, and then told the couple they could not challenge the decision in court. Today’s opinioon allows the couple to have their day in court to challenge the EPA bureaucrats’ decision. As we recently witnessed with overreach by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) at Lake of the Ozarks, federal bureaucrats are becoming more and more brazen in attacking Americans’ private property rights. This must be stopped. This ruling should serve to put overreaching federal agencies on notice that they are not beyond the reach of America’s laws.”
