McCarthy: The President’s Leadership On Energy Has Failed, We Need to Make A Correction

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) gave the following remarks at a weekly House Republican leadership press conference:

“What I heard yesterday from Senator Schumer – his solution? It is to talk to the State Department to urge Saudi Arabia to produce more. Mr. Schumer, you are wrong. Why doesn’t he start urging the President to start producing it here in America? Not only can we produce it and lower the price, we can create jobs which is what this country needs. They are wrong, and we want to make a correction.”

“As the Leader and Speaker said, when we were out during the district work period, we heard about the price of gasoline all across America. You’ve watched Republicans not wait till the price rose, but actually bring up the Keystone Pipeline to prevent such a rise. Also we passed an energy agenda.

“But what I heard yesterday from Senator Schumer – his solution? It is to talk to the State Department to urge Saudi Arabia to produce more. Mr. Schumer, you are wrong. Why doesn’t he start urging the President to start producing it here in America? Not only can we produce it and lower the price, we can create jobs which is what this country needs.
