McCarthy: House Republican Budget Will Lead Where the President and Congressional Democrats Have Failed

 Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) released the following statement in support of the House Republican budget, the Path to Prosperity: A Blueprint for American Renewal:

 “As a country, we face serious fiscal and economic challenges, and Americans rightfully expect leadership from Washington. House Republicans believe that a responsible budget is the cornerstone to any plan for future economic growth and job creation.

"Today, we unveiled a budget plan that not only tackles the main drivers of the debt and deficit that threaten our financial stability, but also includes a pro-growth economic agenda centered around comprehensive reform of our tax code and securing our energy future.

“Over the last three years, the policies of President Obama and Congressional Democrats have not only failed to meet the challenges we face – they have exacerbated them. Since taking office, the President has added close to $5 trillion to the national debt, and his latest budget proposal would yet again yield a deficit topping $1 trillion.

"In addition, the Democratic-controlled Senate has not produced or passed a budget in almost three years.  Americans expect leadership on the economy, job creation and debt, and Washington Democrats have failed at every turn.

“It is the responsibility of this generation to change course, and move our nation in a better direction – toward an American economic and fiscal renewal. Our central focus must be to leave our children and grandchildren with a better country than we inherited.

“Where the President and Congressional Democrats have failed, House Republicans will lead.”
