Washington, D.C., Jan 27 -

Representative Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) encourages all college-bound students in her district to participate in a Cash for College Workshop.

“This Saturday marks the start of the
10th Annual Cash for College Workshops. All high school seniors and their parents are invited to participate in one of the hundreds of FREE workshops taking place all over Los Angeles County and across the great state of California until March 2nd," said Representative Roybal-Allard.

Sitting in front of a computer, financial aid experts help parents and students fill out (line-by-line) both the FAFSA and the Cal Grant GPA Verification From (required to be considered for a Cal Grant). Information sessions about AB540 and AB131 (California DREAM Act) will also be held at these workshops. In addition, all students who attend a workshop and complete a survey are entered to win a $1,000 scholarship.

Federal and state financial aid like Pell grants and Cal Grants make the dream of going to college a reality for more than 9 million low-and-middle income students across the country.  Thanks to the hundreds of volunteers and the leadership of the California Student Aid Commission and Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Cash for College Workshops are a great way to ensure all eligible students from the 34th Congressional District apply for this critical aid.

To find the nearest Cash for College workshop, please visit the California Student Aid Commission webpage.
