Congressman Jack Kingston, R-Ga., spoke Monday about the importance of local government at the Georgia Cities Week Business Breakfast at the Richmond Hill City Center.
“I’ve always felt that local government has the best sense of what’s going on in communities,” he said.
Kingston addressed an audience of local officials, county commissioners, business owners and representatives, chamber members, law enforcement and more.
“It’s very important for all of us in Washington, D.C., to come home as much as possible and get a good dose of whatever’s on people’s minds out there,” Kingston said. “And I’ve always found that people don’t necessarily want you to agree or disagree with them 100 percent of the time, but they want you engaged in their community.
“If there is a local problem, you can solve it when you’re closest to the people,” he added.
Kingston touched on the nation’s current economic woes.
