Boustany Statement on US Supreme Court Ruling

(Washington, DC) - Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after reviewing the US Supreme Court decision on President Obama’s healthcare proposal:

“The President's healthcare bill must be repealed and commonsense solutions put in place.  As a doctor, I understand and have firsthand experience dealing with the problems citizens in South Louisiana face with rising healthcare costs, getting access to care, and developing and strengthening the doctor-patient relationship.  The healthcare law is a drag and burden on America's economy and job creation.  In South Louisiana, the healthcare burden is another impediment and hurdle for small businesses trying to overcome the obstacles the Obama Administration has forced on our oil and gas industry.

“In July the House will again consider legislation to repeal Obamacare and I will work to ensure it passes. Earlier this year, legislation I authored, the CLASS Act repeal which eliminates a flawed, Ponzi-scheme insurance program, passed the House and I am committed to repealing this flawed health care bill and replacing it with workable and real solutions.

"The Supreme Court has spoken and now it is up to the Congress and the American people in November to answer this decision."
