Boustany Statement on the 10th Anniversary of the September 11th Attacks

Washington, D.C.– U.S. Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., MD (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement in remembrance of the 10th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks:

“Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 men, women and children who died on September 11, 2001.  There are many courageous people from that day, and we grieve and pray with those who mourn the loss of their loved ones.

“For many of us, it is hard to believe ten years have passed since those tragic events occurred.  The magnitude of the growing threat of terrorism became painfully evident that day, and the images will always remain with us.  However, the heinous actions strengthened our resolve against evil in the world and united Americans.  No longer would we sit idly by, but instead would rise and defend our freedoms, our values, our very way of life.  The terrible acts of that day inspired an unyielding resolve to combat terrorism wherever it exists.

“As we remember those lives lost on September 11, we are keenly mindful of the brave men and women in uniform and members of our intelligence community who have given their lives to protect our nation and secure our freedoms.  We are eternally grateful for their sacrifice, and we are forever in debt for their actions to keep America safe.  May God bless them, and may God continue to bless the United States of America.”
