Boustany Recognizes Service Academy Appointments from Southwest Louisiana

Washington, DC– U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., MD (R-Southwest Louisiana) today honored three students nominated to the United States Service Academies. The students, Ryan Allen, Brennan Bergeron and Joshua Myers, begin their studies and training this summer.

Service to our nation is a high calling, and I am extremely proud to have nominated such fine young men to our nation’s Service Academies,” Boustany said. “Ryan, Brennan and Joshua each exhibit the leadership and academic traits our Armed Forces need as they defend our freedoms. These young men have bright futures ahead, and I wish them the best of luck and offer my congratulations.

Ryan Allen is the son of Nita and Kendall Allen and is a graduate of Erath High School.  He received an appointment to the Air Force Academy. 

Brennan Bergeron received an appointment to the United States Military Academy (West Point). He graduated from Teurlings Catholic High School.  His parents are Keith and Donna Bergeron.

Joshua Myers is a graduate of Westminster Christian Academy.  He is the son of Payton and Sue Ellen Myers and received an appointment to the Air Force Academy.

In order to be eligible for consideration for a nomination, a student must be a legal resident of the Seventh Congressional District, score at least a 23 on the ACT and have a 3.0 or above grade point average.  In addition, applicants are required to supply a pre-candidate form along with a high school transcript, two or three letters of recommendation and any subsequent scholastic training.  To be considered this fall, the deadline for receipt of this information is no later than October 1, 2011.
