(Washington, DC) – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) released the following statement after the Welfare Integrity Now (WIN) for Children and Families Act,was passed by the Senate:

“I am very proud to see this bipartisan legislation arrive on the President’s desk. Designed to stop waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars, the WIN Act prevents TANF benefits from being fraudulently misused at strip clubs, liquor stores, and casinos. The abuse of EBT cards is a national concern that must be addressed. This Act holds states accountable for not complying with this provision. More importantly, it makes certain the money in this program is being used to help those that need it most.

“I applaud the efforts of my colleagues in both the House and Senate to join forces and stop this terrible misuse of taxpayer dollars.”
