Boustany Protects Small Businesses from Big Government

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement today after becoming an original cosponsor of the “Shield Small Businesses from the H-2B Rule,” a Congressional resolution of disapproval to combat the Department of Labor’s (DOL) ruling aimed to harm small businesses across the nation relying on temporary workers by imposing more ineffective regulations:

“This resolution protects South Louisiana’s small businesses relying on the seasonal worker program from the DOL’s broad and overreaching regulations. The DOL is set on imposing more burdensome and unnecessary regulations negatively impacting businesses across the country. The H-2B program provides resources for thousands of American employers to supplement full-time workers with a capable workforce only when no local workers can be found to complete the work.

“From tourism to seafood to forestry, industries throughout South Louisiana fully utilize the H-2B program. The program already protects American jobs, wages, and the rights of American workers. Including more ineffective regulations will only adversely affect American businesses and competitiveness. Yet again, this Administration proves it does not understand how to run a small business.”
