Boustany Praises Cheniere L.P. for Creating New Louisiana Energy Jobs

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., MD (R-Southwest Louisiana) today commended Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. and their subsidiary Sabine Pass Liquefaction, LLC, for receiving final approval from the Department of Energy to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) and create jobs in the United States. This authorization expands upon previous approval received in 2010 to export LNG from the Sabine Pass LNG terminal, and strengthens America’s global competitiveness.

“This development is critical for Southwest Louisiana’s economy, and gives the United States a boost on the global energy stage,” Boustany said. “With so much uncertainty from the Administration and no clear energy strategy for this country, this approval proves the United States has an abundance of natural resources to be utilized in both foreign and domestic markets. We should be looking to our own shores to produce our own energy, rather than relying on foreign oil and gas companies.”

With this authorization, the Sabine Pass Liquefaction facility in the Sabine Pass will expand to accommodate the potential new markets.

Boustany is the leading voice in Washington for domestic energy production along the Gulf Coast. “As we rebuild our energy infrastructure after the disastrous moratorium and de facto moratorium, this project is an example of American competitiveness, which bolsters our standing in the world and pays dividends for Southwest Louisiana.” Boustany said.
