Boustany Meets Head of BSEE to Discuss Safety of Offshore Workers

(Washington, DC) -  Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement today after meeting with James Watson, Director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement:

“I welcomed the opportunity to speak with Director Watson today in Washington and expressed my concerns about the continuing need to focus on the safety of all offshore workers off the coast of South Louisiana. Safety remains my primary focus.

“We had a productive discussion on important issues including the SEMS 1 and SEMS 2 safety initiatives, the Mr. Charlie training rig in Morgan City, and the Idle Iron Policy. I look forward to having future meetings with the Director and his staff to continue to protect workers in South Louisiana.”

Boustany is Louisiana’s leading voice for American energy production. By fighting the Obama moratorium on coastal drilling and exploration coupled with supporting increased domestic energy production, Boustany remains South Louisiana’s staunchest advocate for energy independence on Capitol Hill. He continues to fight for a speedy resumption of permits to the Gulf Coast to boost energy production and lower the price of gas for Americans.
