Boustany Marks Three Year Anniversary of Failed Stimulus

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement earlier today marking the third anniversary of the President’s failed stimulus plan:

“Today marks the three year anniversary of President Obama and Washington liberals shoving an unwanted ‘so-called’ stimulus plan down the throat of the American people. They promised this plan would ‘save or create three to four million jobs’ and prevent the national unemployment rate from ballooning above 8 percent. Today, 14 million Americans do not have a job, and January marked the 37th consecutive month the national unemployment rate remained above 8 percent.

“Future generations of Americans are left to foot the $800 billion price tag for the failed plan. Since this plan was signed into law in 2009, our nation’s economy shed over 2 million jobs. This Administration continues to offer false hopes, promises, and anything under the sun in return for a blank check to continue its spending spree.

“From encouraging entrepreneurial growth to increasing American competitiveness to reforming the tax code for small businesses, House Republicans put forth numerous job creating bills in the Plan for America’s Job Creators. Democrats in the Senate need to stop impeding progress and vote to pass these pieces of legislation.”
