Boustany Encourages Senate to Pass NAT GAS Act of 2011

(Washington, DC) -  Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) released the following statement after the NAT GAS Act of 2011 was introduced by a bipartisan group of senators earlier today:

“This legislation moves our nation one step closer toward energy independence. Incorporating natural gas as a key component of our nation’s energy strategy will help America to transition away from a dependence on foreign oil. More importantly, it will create jobs at home while providing a cheaper source of fuel to our nation’s consumers.

“This is a prime example of legislation that has gained broad, bipartisan support in both chambers of Congress. With Louisiana being home to one of the world’s largest deposit of natural gas in the world, I was happy to serve as an original cosponsor of this legislation in the House of Representatives. I am proud to see it succeed and encourage members of the Senate to pass it without further delay.”
