Boustany Applauds Ways & Means Committee Approval of CLASS Repeal

(Washington, DC)  – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana) released the following statement after the House Ways & Means Committee voted to approve H.R. 1173, “The Fiscal Responsibility and Retirement Security Act of 2011.” Authored by Boustany, this legislation seeks to repeal the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act:

“Today, the Ways & Means Committee voted to protect taxpayers from the CLASS Act Ponzi scheme imposed by ObamaCare. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius suspended CLASS after HHS attorneys conceded it lacked the legal authority to make CLASS appear more actuarially sound.

“We’ve already started to see ObamaCare collapse under its own weight. The CLASS Act epitomizes the definition of a ‘failed government run long-term care program.’ It is time for Congress to repeal this Act. I am proud the Ways & Means Committee is leading the way.”
