Boustany Applauds Passage of Stolen Valor Act

(Washington, DC)  – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana), released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to pass the Stolen Valor Act of 2011, H.R. 1775, by a vote of 410-3:

“This legislation is needed to protect the service and dignity of our brave men and women in uniform. Many who have already bravely sacrificed in combat are being robbed of the honor and valor afforded to them as a result of these acts. This legislation defends current personnel and veterans of the military against people who seek to benefit from lying about their own military service and decorations. I will continue to support our troops and seek to ensure veterans are also protected from these shameful acts.”
