Boustany Applauds Passage of H.R. 4157 Protecting South Louisiana Family Farms

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr. M.D. (R-South Louisiana) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 4157, the Preserving America’s Family Farms Act, which blocks federal regulations limiting the ability of young men and women to work on family farms:

“South Louisiana’s hardworking farming families are under attack by heavy-handed regulations from the Department of Labor attempting to interfere in family farms across our district. Learning the skills of hard work, discipline and entrepreneurship at a young age should be encouraged, not regulated out of existence from the federal level.

“I am pleased H.R. 4157 passed with broad bipartisan support today. Protecting America’s farming families is not a partisan issue, and I urge all of my colleagues to preserve this tradition by working together. I will continue to ensure South Louisiana’s farming families are well represented as this issue develops.”
