Sen. Brown Announces New Resources For Community Health Center Development In Akron

Funds Will Expand Critical Health Care Services to Summit County Residents and Support Local Jobs

WASHINGTON, DC –A community health center in Summit County will be able to expand services as a result of new federal resources. U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that Akron Community Health Resources, Inc., a medical center serving Summit County, received new resources from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support and develop primary care health services.

“Community health centers play a vital role in helping Ohioans obtain access to primary and preventive health care services,” said Brown.  “These new federal resources will help Akron Community Health Resources, Inc. provide affordable and accessible health care to more of Akron’s children, seniors, and parents.”

Allocated through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Health Center Cluster program, the grant will provide $691,000 to the Akron-based organization.
